Simple Girder and Metallurgical Dedicated Overhead Bridge Crane

Simple beam overhead crane


Also known as a beam crane, the structure and composition of this crane is similar to that of a regular overhead crane. The lifting capacity, span, and working speed are all relatively small. The main beam of the bridge is a simple section beam made of I-beams or other types of steel and plate steel. A manual or electric hoist is paired with a simple trolley as the lifting trolley, which generally runs on the lower flange of the I-beam. The bridge can run on a track on a viaduct or on a track suspended under the viaduct, and this type of crane is called a suspended beam overhead crane.


Metallurgical special overhead crane


This type of crane can participate in specific technological operations in the steel production process. The basic structure is similar to that of a regular overhead crane, but the crane trolley is also equipped with special working mechanisms or devices. The working characteristics of this kind of overhead crane are frequent use, suitability for harsh working environments, and high working levels. There are five main types:


Foundry crane:


Used for lifting iron water to inject into the mixer, steelmaking furnace, and lifting molten steel to inject into equipment such as continuous casting machine or steel ingot mold. The main trolley of the foundry crane lifts the bucket, and the auxiliary trolley performs auxiliary work such as flipping the bucket.


Clamp crane:


Uses clamps to lift high-temperature steel ingots vertically into the deep pit reheating furnace or remove them and place them on a transport vehicle.


Unloading crane:


Used to forcibly remove steel ingots from the mold. The trolley has a special unloading device, and the unloading method depends on the shape of the mold: some unloading cranes use a top rod to press the steel ingot and use large pliers to lift the mold; some use large pliers to press the mold and use small pliers to lift the steel ingot.


Feeding crane:


Used to add burden to a blast furnace. The column at the bottom of the main trolley is equipped with a hoisting rod, which is used to lift the material box and send it into the furnace. The main column can rotate around a vertical axis, and the hoisting rod can swing up and down and rotate. The auxiliary trolley is used for repairing the furnace and other auxiliary operations.


Forging crane:


Used in conjunction with hydraulic presses to forge large workpieces. The main trolley's hook is suspended with a special overturning device for supporting and flipping the workpiece; the auxiliary trolley is used to lift the workpiece.
